Maoer Mountain Ski Resort in Harbin started its annual skiing season on Nov 26, providing a great place for skiers to enjoy their sport.
The ski resort, which is affiliated to Harbin Sport University, is located 90 kilometers from the downtown area of Harbin.
Due to its rich ice and snow resources, the ski resort has ski runs measuring 6,750 meters and two snowboarding areas. It is one of the two 5S-level ski resorts in Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province.
“The ski resort is not only a good skiing destination for tourists, but also a base integrating scientific research, training and competitions,” said a staff member from Harbin Sports University.
“It was also the host site of the 16 skiing competitions of the 2009 Winter Universiade,” he added.
To provide a better skiing experience for tourists, the ski resort has improved its basic facilities, which include a cable car operating at a speed of 5m/s –– the first of its kind in Asia.
