With its lush scenic environment, rolling hills and mild climate, Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou province, is focusing on the developing its tourism services and cultural customs.
Due to its wealth of natural resources, Guiyang was selected as The Best Destination for Ecological Tourism by China National Travel, the only monthly national-level magazine guided by China National Tourism Administration.
From August this year, the magazine began investigating about 1,000 tourism destinations across the country, and assessed the regions' quality in terms of branding, planning and tourism services.
After three months of appraisals and voting, the magazine declared 25 awards across four categories in Kunming, Yunnan province on Nov 17.
Apart from all-around integration of tourism resources, Guiyang is working vigorously to strengthen its connection to outside regions by speeding up its construction of the expressway network. Accommodation services are also being improved to meet the needs of increasing tourists.
According to statistics, the city received about 139.3 million tourists from within China and abroad in the first nine months of this year, increasing 36.8 percent year-on-year. The total revenue reached 160.3 billion yuan ($24.3 billion), increasing an impressive 42.41 percent from the previous year.
