Brilliance Auto Group Holdings Limited (华晨汽车集团控股有限公司), known as Brilliance Auto Group, is a State-owned company established by the central government in 2002, with the approval of the Liaoning provincial government. The company is headquartered in Shenyang, a major industrial city in Northeast China's Liaoning province. Brilliance Auto Group is a leading enterprise in Liaoning's auto industry as well as being a major force in the national auto industry. Brilliance employs more than 50,000 people and holds total assets of 140 billion yuan ($21.12 billion).
Brilliance Auto Group currently owns four listed companies (Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Co, Shanghai Shenhua Holdings Co, Jinbei Automotive Co, Xinchen China Power Holdings Limited) and more than 100 exclusively invested companies and joint ventures. Focusing on R&D, design, manufacturing, sales and after-sales needs of the finished automobile, engines and core components, Brilliance also covers other industries like new energy.
Today, the group has entered a transformative phase of the 13th Five-year Plan period (2016-2020) and is working on evolving from product management to brand management. Much like BMW Group before it, Brilliance is upgrading its technological capacities with special attention to low carbonization, informatization and intelligence. By the end of 2020, the group expects to sell 1.5 million finished vehicles each year with annual sales of more than 300 billion yuan and annual total profits and taxes of more than 50 billion yuan.
In 2017, Brilliance Auto Group ranked No 94 among the Top 500 Chinese Enterprises, No 34 among the Top 500 Manufacturing Enterprises in China, No 7 on the Top 30 Enterprises in Chinese Automotive Industry, No 10 among the Top 500 Enterprises in Chinese Machinery and No 172 on the list of Global 500 Enterprises in Manufacturing.
