AVIC Harbin Aircraft Industry Group Co Ltd (航空工业哈尔滨飞机工业集团有限责任公司) was founded in 1952. , on some ground of 3.56 million square meters at Located in Pingfang district in Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang province, the company covers a land area of 3.56 million square meters. It is one of the first six domestic aircraft manufacturers established after the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949. The group has a development and research center for helicopter and advanced composite-material elements. It has and sets up a national-level technology center and postdoctoral workstation.
The group has made a series of breakthroughs in China’s aviation industry. It developed and produced aircraft of different types, including HAMC Z-5, Harbin H-5 Light Bomber, Harbin SH-5 Maritime Bomber, HAMC Z-9 and HC120 Colibri, and jointly produced ERJ145 Regional Jet and Legacy 650 Exclusive Jet with Embraer S.A. The Regional Jet Transport -12 produced by the group was the country’s first aircraft that gained qualifications from British Civil Aviation Authority and the Federal Aviation Administration of the US.
The major aircraft products of the group are HAMC Z-9, Z-19E Yuan Dedicated Attack Helicopter and Regional Jet Transport -12. The composites manufacturing center which was cofounded with Airbus, an international pioneer in the aerospace industry, mainly engages in developing and producing parts for passenger and transport planes, such as Airbus A350 and A320.
