The China-Russia High-speed Train Research and Development Center was launched in Changchun, capital of Jilin province, on Nov 15. The launch was announced by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles.
The center intends to guarantee the coordination of China-Russia high speed train programs and to promote expert academic technological exchanges.
The Russian side expressed their intention to cultivate young researchers and accelerate the two countries' high-speed train programs.
Changchun Railway also suggested that Chinese staff members work together with their Russian counterparts on the research of trains with strong cold resistance and low cost.
Several experts from both countries including the chief engineer of Russian Rapid Transit Railway and chief engineer of CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles attended the launching ceremony.
Cooperation on high-speed trains is an example of deepening China-Russia relations. The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding and a letter of intent, in 2014 and 2016 respectively, which anticipated joint work on construction of the Moscow-Kazan high-speed railway.
