Baiyun district in Guangzhou will be home to a world-class railway logistics hub by the end of 2018, it was announced on Nov 22 with the release of 26.8 hectares of land for the project.
Invested in by China Railway Guangzhou Group, the project will contain four main functional zones including a central railway station for containers and a comprehensive storage yard.
After being put into use, the hub will be able to handle a total of 5.8 million tons of cargo by 2020 with the number rising to 25.9 million tons by 2035. The world-class logistics hub will connect Guangzhou to regions such as Europe and South Asia.
