Amenities grow along with Doumen paddy harvest

The 4th Paddy Harvest Festival in Doumen District from Nov 25 to 26 offers a wide variety of activities ranging from a bonfire party to local gourmet food tasting and countryside adventures.

Formerly held at Shangzhou Village, the venue this year is Shili Lianjiang Scenic Spot of Lianzhou Town, which is more accessible and only hundreds of meters away from the Lianxi Exit of the Jiangmen-Zhuhai Expressway.

Initiated in 2014, the festival is distinguished by rich content, distinctive characteristics and enticing highlights. It attracts thousands of visitors each time.

According to the organizer, this year's activities will be even more varied and distinctive, reflecting the festival's growing maturity. Visitors will experience traditional farming culture by reaping the fields while admiring the natural scenic beauty of the Lingnan countryside.

After a bonfire party in the paddy fields, they'll be able to sleep to the croaking of frogs and enjoy night's tranquility. If this adventure into an unknown countryside makes them hungry, they can reach out for the Doumen-based cuisines that will be available throughout the festival.

Equipped with better lodging and support catering facilities compared with last year, Shili Lianjiang Scenic Spot encompasses a glass house capable of accommodating up to a thousand people for dining, family inns, and log cabins.

Ticket are 98 yuan ($15) per adult, and 55 yuan ($8.50) per child. A family package consisting of one-child and two-adult tickets is priced at 228 yuan ($35).
