Promoting regional cooperation is vital for a revitalization of all of NE China, Changchun Mayor Liu Changlong said at the 2017 Forum on Revitalizing Northeast China which opened on Aug 19.
At the forum, Liu reported on Changchun's economic growth and said the city's economy is dependent on traditional industries including automobiles, railway equipment and industrial farming devices, but is also home to innovative products such as biological medicine, new energy facilities and big data.
He said NE China cities should increase cooperation with coastal provinces and develop those emerging industries and others like cloud calculation services.
Meanwhile, Liu advised those cities to share innovative achievements and form an entire industrial chain to support the economic system.
Attracting talents to NE China to contribute to the revitalization of the region's development is also a challenge.
Liu mentioned that a new talent management rule will be made and recruitments from home and abroad will be conducted.
Finally, he said more NE China-made products such as CRH trains must be encouraged to enter global markets just as the unique traditional culture in NE China must be promoted to the rest of the world through tourism.
