Brand agriculture: a new model for Jilin

Branding is a new driver of traditional agriculture. It focuses on marketing to improve agriculture efficiency, boost agricultural development and increase farmers' income.

Therefore, Jilin attaches great importance to building a better agricultural brand for sustainable development of food production in a green and ecologically sound way.

The province has taken a series of measures to increase production of more high-quality green and organic agricultural products especially those with unique geographical characteristics.

The province now owns 27 standard production bases of green food ingredients and has cultivated more than 300 newly certificated agricultural products in each of the last several years.

By the end of 2016, it was harvesting 1,593 kinds of green, organic, or unique agricultural products from a planting area of about 690,667 hectares.

The province aims to cultivate 400 of these products in an area of 766,667 hectares this year.

The province is focusing on building agriculture brands and products and constructing a supervision system for green organic agricultural products with local characteristics.

In recent years, the province has taken part in many exhibitions such as the China International Organic and Green Food Expo, the China Green Food Expo and the Agricultural Expo, winning many awards, one of which was for its work as host of the 17th China Green Food Expo in 2016.
