Zhanjiang ranks 92nd in top 100 cities in China

Zhanjiang has come in at 92 in a top 100 ranking of Chinese cities released by the Warton Economic Institute on Nov 12, the highest ranked of all cities in eastern-western-northern Guangdong province.

The top 10 were Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Chongqing and Wuhan. Other Guangdong cities made it into the top 100 included Foshan, Dongguan, Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Huizhou, Jiangmen and Maoming.

The list, which assesses a city's economic, social, cultural and ecological development comprehensively and scientifically, was compiled across two categories of indicators: economy and non-economy (soft economy).

The economic indicators are composed of GDP and household savings, accounting for 61.8 percent of the total points. The non-economy indexes consist of four parts, including science and education, culture, health and ecological environment, making up 38.2 percent.
