Accelerated urban-rural integration
Haishu district has promoted the reasonable allocation of social resources and the equalization of fundamental public services for the past year, according to the leaders of Haishu district.
Longguan village has dismantled 15,100-square-meter old houses and built 18,500-square-meter new buildings for 1,525 farmer families.
Jishigang town plans to tear down all of its shabby latrines and build more than 200 public toilets in villages within two years to help construct beautiful villages.
The district is also expected to invest over 2 billion yuan in new bus routes and make sure all local villages can be reached by bus.
Five major education groups have been established to promote the sharing of education resources between urban and rural schools and over 100 principals and teachers have attended urban-rural education exchanges this year.
The central urban area of Haishu district has also seen a steady improvement in its ecological environment.
Some 100,000 cubic meters of sludge has been cleared out of the Moon Lake, 810 hectares' green land and 20 parks have been managed by category, and the Zhongshan Road, known as the First Street in East Zhejiang, has been revamped.
After having made such achievements, Haishu district set new goals for its future development at its 9th Party congress this year: to promote the integration of urban areas with different industries and the integration of urban and rural areas, to improve its economic development level, to create a modern demonstration district, and to take the lead in building a moderately prosperous society in all aspects.
