Baotou Airport handles record passenger numbers

Baotou Airport received a total of 1,792,000 passengers this year up to the period ending Nov 14, setting a new record, according to local media.

The figure represents year-on-year growth of 8 percent.

Among the passengers, 60,275 were foreign visitors –– 3.4 percent of the total figure.

The airport now boasts nine international air routes operated by eight different airlines.

Baotou residents are expected to benefit further as more direct flights are launched from the airport, linking foreign cities such as Da Nang in Vietnam, Siem Reap in Cambodia, and Irkutsk in Russia.
