Industrial emphases

I. Develop and expand pillar industries, including electronics, mechanics, shipping and logistics, tourism and exhibitions, finance and commerce as well as software and information services.

Primary focus must be placed on the development of the following industries:

Electronics: flat-panel displays, modern lighting, solar energy and photovoltaic systems, computers and communication equipment;

Mechanics: automobile, engineering machinery, power equipment, aerospace industry and shipbuilding;

Shipping and logistics: frontier logistics, third-party logistics, intercity distribution logistics;

Tourism and exhibitions: Taiwan tourism, cross-straits tourism, high-end tourism, cultural tourism;

Finance and commerce: modern financial service systems, Xiamen-Taiwan financial cooperation, headquarter enterprises;

Software and information services: application software, IC design, embedded software, digital contents, information technology services;

II. Preferentially nurture the development of emerging strategic industries, which include:

New-generation IT industry, biological and new medicines, new materials, energy-saving and environment-friendly industries, oceanic technological industries and cultural creative industries.

III. Restructure and improve competitive industries, which include:

Food processing, textile and garment and chemical industries.

IV. Nurture and expand industrial clusters and large-sized companies and groups.

Efforts will be made to establish several industrial clusters with an annual industrial output of 50 billion yuan to 100 billion yuan and several large-sized groups with annual sales operating revenue of 50 billion yuan to 100 billion yuan.
