Jilin establishes four nightingale volunteer teams

Four nightingale volunteer teams were established in Jilin province on Nov 3 to increase nursing staff in the province and improve medical care quality.

The 350 volunteers come from hospitals and medical institutes including the Second Hospital of Jilin University, the School of Nursing in Jilin University and Changchun Medical College.

Yin Yanling, who was awarded the Florence Nightingale Medal by the International Committee of the Red Cross on July 21, 2017, also joined the team.

At the launching ceremony, volunteers expressed their willingness to participate in the activities and to offer high-quality medical service to people in need.

The teams are also part of the Chinese Nightingale Nursing Service Volunteer Team that was established in 2007 as the first professional nursing volunteer team in China.

To date, the team has 200,000 volunteers and has set up 232 groups in 23 provinces all over the country.
