Changchun makes Fifth National Civilized Cities list

Changchun has for the last three years been listed as a National Civilized City. This year's selection was announced on Nov 14.

Another two cities in Jilin--Dunhua and Meihekou were also listed.

Changchun sits in central Jilin province and is the provincia capital, as well as a political, economic, cultural and transportation center. It covers an area of 20,604 square kilometers and is home to a total population of 7.67 million. The city has six districts, three county-level cities, one county and four development zones.

Dunhua is located in the eastern mountain area in the Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture. It covers 11,957 square kilometers and is the biggest county-level city in Jilin province. It has 16 towns, four subdistrict offices, one provincial economic zone and one provincial cultural tourism zone. Its population is 480,000, made up of 15 minorities.

Meihekou can be found in the southeast of Jilin province. It is an important city in the central urban agglomeration of Jilin. Meihekou city covers 2,174 square kilometers, has one provincial level economic zone, 19 towns, and five subdistrict offices. Its total population is 620,000,of which 300,000 people now lives in its central area.
