Nansha district of Guangzhou signed a cooperation agreement with Chinese home appliances giant Haier Group on Nov 16, to build the district into a national class smart manufacturing demonstration area.
According to the agreement, Haier Group will launch a series of projects including its Haier South China Regional Headquarters, Haier Financial Holdings South China Headquarters, Smart Manufacturing and Logistics Center, Haier Cloud Park and COSMOPlat Industrial Demonstration Center.
COSMOPlat is the world's first cloud-based platform for industrial internet. In the platform, users have the freedom to make demands for what they think are important and Haier's internet factory will put these into production once demand reaches a certain level. It gives belief and respect to consumers, engaging them in every critical part of the industrial process, from research and development, design, production and logistics to upgrades.
The initial investment for the projects is 20 billion yuan ($3 billion). Once completed, the projects will yield revenue of 100 billion yuan in five years and lure thousands of high-end talents to the areas of financing, science and technology and smart manufacturing.
