The Third Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Charitable Annual Meeting held in Tianjin

The Third Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Charitable Annual Meeting for social organizations was held in Tianjin on Nov 16. The meeting was themed around voluntary services, charity and talent construction for social work.

More than 310 people attended the forum such as the directors of social organizations in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, and experts and leaders from Bureau of Civil Affairs.

Tianjin is the birthplace of voluntary services in China. In 1989, Chaoyangli community in Heping district established the first voluntary association. With the 28-year growth, many volunteers obtained the designation of National Moral People, learning-from-Lei Feng excellent groups and volunteers.

To date, Tianjin has had more than 2 million registered volunteers, made up of youth volunteers, community volunteers, security volunteers and art volunteers in every grass-root volunteer organizations, and they have carried out all sorts of voluntary services such as community construction, poverty alleviation, environment protection, holding of large events, and emergency rescue.

In the opening ceremony of the 13th National Games, 99 percent of actors were volunteers, who came from Tianjin Medical University and voluntary organization in Heping district.

Tianjin Federation of Social Organizations signed an agreement to establish social organization talent training base with twelve universities in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province.
