The opening ceremony of the Volleyball Academy of China was held in Tianjin on Nov 10.
The academy was founded by the Chinese Volleyball Association and the Tianjin University of Sport with the goal of creating breakthrough volleyball skills, focusing on high-level volleyball players' and coaches and referees' training, and on conducting scientific research on the sport and its athletes' cultural development.

The academy will foster international and volleyball culture communication, and combining physical and intellectual education and skills training for the sport itself.
The first president of the academy is Lang Ping, currently vice-president of the Chinese Volleyball Association and head coach of the Chinese Women National Volleyball Team.

The new academy has a stadium suitable for international competitions, a training stadium which has ten standard volleyball courts, two indoor beach volleyball courts, and athletes' apartments and meeting rooms to support its training purposes.
