An art troupe from Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, staged an art performance of The Beautiful Prairie is My Home at China Shanghai International Arts Festival (CSIAF) from Nov 13 to 14.

The performance, consisting of three chapters, offered a full picture of Inner Mongolia and brought a splendid visual and audio feast for the audience.

"The show features many elements of Inner Mongolia. It displays the classic 'long-tune' melody, or changdiao, traditional practice of throat singing called humai, the horse-headed fiddle or matouqin music, and also traditional ethnic group dances," said Li Qiang, vice-president of the Inner Mongolia Bureau of National Art Troupes.

Inner Mongolia is the fourth sub-venue of the CSIAF, and also the first sub-venue outside of the Yangtze River Delta set by the festival. The other sub-venues are located in Wuxi, Ningbo and Hefei.

An exhibition hall themed with Inner Mongolia culture was built at the trade fair of CSIAF. The hall exhibited classic plays and performances with Inner Mongolian style, showcasing the unique Mongolian culture to the world.

CSIAF also signed an agreement on sharing cultural resources with Department of Culture of Inner Mongolia autonomous region to promote the communication and interaction between the two sides.

According to the agreement, CSIAF will stage more plays and exhibitions at the annual Grassland Culture Festival held in Inner Mongolia in the following three years. The Inner Mongolia's art troupes will also perform at the main venue of the festival.

CSIAF shares a long-term cooperation with Inner Mongolia. In 2006, the festival established an Inner Mongolia Culture Week, exhibiting hundreds of Inner Mongolia cultural relics.
