Landlocked Guizhou gets Zhuhai aid in reaching sea

Goods may now be transported through Guizhou Province by water, rail, and road by different carriers under a single contract due to the work of a Zhuhai Port Holdings Group subsidy.

The multimodal transport accomplishment led by Guizhou (Changming) International Land Port Co Ltd was even recognized on Nov 10 as a second-batch demonstration project. The award was made by the Ministry of Transport and National Development & Reform Commission at a conference in Zhengzhou, Henan Province.

This is the first multimodal transport project to be approved in Guizhou. It was made possible by the rail-water system connecting with Sichuan Province and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Zhuhai Port Holdings considers the land-port project to be a major one, according to a manager. By exerting transportation advantages granted by prime geological location, the transport hub forms a pioneering passage system. Within a framework of “one platform, two routes, and many ports linked,” it takes advantage of the Southwest and Erenhot- Beibu Gulf logistics corridors.

The project exemplifies Zhuhai's response to the Belt & Road Initiative via the Sichuan-Guizhou-Guangdong-Southern Asia International Logistics Channel. As a result, inland Guizhou can build a bridgehead of economic pilot zones as well as establish an open multimodal transport platform, said a project head.

Zhuhai Port Holdings took active part in winning Guizhou government support over the course of application in concert with the Chendu Railway Bureau. The national honor eases the way for financial assistance and policy encouragement from the state.

The selection is the result of carrying out the Medium- and Long-Term Plan for the Development of the Logistics Industry (2014-20) released by the State Council. Construction of the Belt & Road Initiative has been furthered by a comprehensive transportation system in line with the new pattern of China's Opening Up to the outside world, an official said.
