Tianjin Dongjiang Free Trade Port Zone has successfully finished its work for the Nov 11 shopping gala, or the Singles Day shopping carnival in China.
Since it was launched in 2009, the Singles Day shopping carnival has set new sales records every year. On that day most online sellers provide big discounts for consumers to boost their sales.
As a free trade zone, Dongjiang faced huge logistic pressure on Nov 11 this year.
To ensure that all the goods were transported smoothly, Tianjin government departments such as the Commission of Commerce, the Customs, and the Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau jointly set up a headquarters to direct the work of the zone.

The headquarters made thorough plans to command and supervise the day's activity. Many members of the headquarters even went to various areas to ensure every key part was running smoothly.
The Tianjin cross-border e-commerce platform in the area is responsible for sending goods of many enterprises stored in its warehouses to consumers. It was the first Singles Day for some newly-settled companies. The platform ran smoothly during the day and there were no systemic problems.
In the e-commerce warehouses on Nov 11, about two hundred workers kept their stations on the assembly line working hard to sort, pack and load goods.

The area also created a dedicated channel for cross-border e-commerce. Express vehicles full of cross-border products passed directly through the channel on their way to different destinations.

Customs in Dongjiang made full preparations for the day. It provided full services including inspection and clearance of goods.
All the logistical processes in the zone were carefully checked. Damaged packages were identified and not allowed to be transported out.
