This year’s Nov 11 Singles’ Day shopping has brought record sales for e-commerce platforms around the country.
The huge amount of transactions means that the transportation system in China will be extremely busy due to the huge volume of parcels that need to be delivered in the following week.
To speed up deliveries, Harbin Railway Bureau is using high-speed rail services to move parcels.
From Nov 11 to 20, eight high-speed trains departing from Harbin to Beijing, Qingdao, Shanghai, Wuhan and Zhengzhou will reserve one carriage for parcels; and a special train will operate on the Harbin-Qiqihar High-Speed Railway Line for parcel delivery.
The logistics services are targeted at all e-commerce businesses and express enterprises in Harbin, helping them save time and improving efficiency, said Zhang Xiaomei, business manager of the Haxi department of China Railway Express.
