The musical Little Heroic Sisters of the Grassland opened in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Nov 9 in front of an audience of hundreds who enjoyed a stunning visual feast.
The musical tells the true story of Long Mei and Yu Rong, two Mongolian girls who unexpectedly got caught in a snowstorm while volunteering to herd sheep. The girls spared no efforts in protecting the sheep, herding them to safety to ensure the flock's survival as well as their own.
The story was adapted into Little Heroic Sisters of the Grassland, a Mongolian-style musical that pays tribute to their bravery and persistence.
Performances are scheduled for Nov 14 and 15 at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing.
