Nearly a thousand bicycling enthusiasts from Macao, Zhuhai, and Zhongshan rode through iconic scenic spots and ancient villages along Southern Guangdong Old Post roads on Nov 12. En route, they experienced numerous historical cultural monuments and the former homesites of many historical celebrities.
As the major land artery between Zhuhai and Macao, the Xiangshan Ancient Route was vital to the Maritime Silk Road and witnessed economic and cultural exchanges between the two cities over many centuries.
Themed Leaving Footprints in the Hometown of Celebrities, the event leveraged the fitness example of the cyclists to encourage residents to exercise outdoors. By boosting a positive and healthy lifestyle, it promoted fitness for all even as it also offered nourishment of a cultural and historical nature.
Starting from Hi City Square of Yeli Island, the 42-km activity route ran by Tang Guo'an (Tong Kwo On) Memorial Hall, Sun Yat-sen University, Tang Shaoyi Former Residence, Huitong Village, and Qiguan Road before terminating at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Middle School.

Hosted by the Guangdong Sports and Housing & Urban-Rural Planning & Construction bureaus, Zhuhai and Zhongshan municipal governments, Publicity & Culture Department of the Liaison Office of the Central Peoples Government in Macao SAR, and Guangdong Transportation Group, the event was locally overseen by the Zhuhai Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau.
