Guangzhou-made products shine at technology conference

Guangzhou is China's third most important city for developing strategic technologies, according to a news report.
The city in Guangdong province was ranked third in the 2017 Chinese Cities Ranking of Hard & Core Technology Index, which was unveiled at the Global Hard & Core Technology Conference in Xi'an, Shaanxi province on Tuesday.
The concept of "hard & core technology", proposed by Mi Lei, the founding partner of CAS DTAR, in 2010, refers to cutting-edge technologies in the fields of smart manufacturing, new energy, new materials, photonic and computer science, space technology, biotechnology and artificial intelligence.
As these fields have extremely high entry barriers, they are considered to reflect the true technological prowess of a nation.
