The 1,480,000 square meter Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center (SZCEC), under construction in Baoan district will replace the Hannover Exhibition Center in Germany as the world's largest such center after completion.

Located at the top of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, SZCEC is one of two centers the Shenzhen municipal government is building; the other is the International Convention Center. The first phase of SZCEC costs 86.7 billion yuan ($13 billion) and will start operations in September, 2018. The completion of the first phase will make it the second largest exhibition center after Hannover's.
