Every month is a new month to protect consumer rights

On Oct 16, a regular event aiming to guard rights of consumers was held by the Dongsheng branch of the Industry and Commerce Administration.

The event involved on-site legal consultations, complaint resolution and provision of publicity materials. People taking part in the event explained how to enhance consumer protection consciousness, especially how to use the law to protect the public's rights and interests. Many questions about protection of consumer rights arising from normal shopping were discussed and answered during the event.

The hot issues consumers generally are concerned about include service attitude, discount cards that don't work and hidden charges made without notification.

The campaign started in March, 2016. Since then it has occurred on the 15th day of every month at which time different kinds of activities are carried out to protect the rights of consumers.

The event conforms to the principle of simplicity and efficiency, and has spread into villages, communities, schools, shopping malls, supermarkets, enterprises, and scenic spots, covering more than 70 percent of the city.
