Special exhibition shows culture of Yili Kazak autonomous prefecture

A special exhibition featuring 150 items showcasing the folk customs and culture of Yili Kazak autonomous prefecture in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region began in Guangzhou on Nov 8.

Held at the Guangzhou Museum and Yili Lin Zexu Memorial Hall, the event will run until Dec 10.

The exhibits mainly include two categories with one displaying the items representing Silk Road culture and the other category of articles showcasing the distinctive culture of Yili Kazak autonomous prefecture.

Highlights of the exhibits include a copper mirror from the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220), a tower-shaped cap with delicate patterns and a bow-shaped harp.

Apart from exhibition, themed lectures on the history, cultural relics and customs of Yili Kazak autonomous prefecture will also be given at Guangzhou Museum.

Moreover, models of distinctive local snacks such as dried horse meat, crisp noodles and crusty pancake will be displayed.
