The Tripartite Economic Summit Guangzhou 2017 was launched on Nov 9, with more than 600 government officials, business people and scholars from Guangzhou, Auckland and Los Angeles in attendance.
Since its establishment in November 2014, the alliance among the three cities has generated 22 agreements in fields including biopharmaceuticals, cross-border e-commerce, planning and design, film and TV production, and port and logistics.
Participants to the summit will explore cooperative opportunities in nine fields including innovation, digital creativity and cross-border e-commerce, as well as sign new agreements, said Wen Guohui, mayor of Guangzhou.
The alliance opens up opportunities for enhanced trade and investment and allows the three cities to provide new business relationships, new markets, job growth, and deeper cultural and people-to-people links, said Phil Goff, mayor of Auckland. Representatives from the three cities are meeting to strengthen shared goals in innovation, sustainability, prosperity and excellence in city government, said Jeffrey Gorell, deputy mayor of Los Angeles.
