Guangzhou to hold overseas talent convention

The 2017 Convention on Exchange of Overseas Talents, a platform for overseas talents to find business opportunities and start innovative programs, will be held in southern Chinese city of Guangzhou in December, according to a press conference held on Nov 7.

More than 4,500 talents including 3,000 from overseas will participate in the convention, with some being high-level talents including Nobel Prize winners and renowned academicians.

Held from Dec 20 to 21, the convention will consist of an opening ceremony, thematic forums, match-making activities and talent recruitment.

At the press conference, Li Ming, vice mayor of Guangzhou said he wished more overseas talents can take part in the convention and seek business opportunities or start up their own business in Guangzhou.

According to statistics, the previous conventions have lured more than 40,000 overseas talents with more than 20,000 programs, more than half of which have settled in cities across China.
