The Meili Cultural Town is supposed to be a cultural demonstration area of traditional cultural promotion and development to bear and carry forward the Wu culture.
Meicun town of Wuxi, also known as Meili in the ancient times, is the birthplace of Wu culture. It is also renowned for being the home of erhu, the traditional Chinese musical instrument often referred to as the "Chinese fiddle".
With a total planning area of four square kilometers, the cultural town will be divided into Meili Ancient Town, agricultural area and Bodu River cultural experience area.
Meili Ancient Town will take the Taibo Temple as its center and stage cultural shows. Five cultural platforms will also be built to show the customs, Intangible Cultural Heritages and history of Wu culture.
The agricultural area will focus on displaying the achievement of traditional industries and green technology upgrading in Meicun town.
Bodu River cultural experience area is designed to show the life and view of the watery region through the hydrophilic revetment, platform and trail designing.
Meicun town will join hands with seasoned enterprises to make the cultural town the brand of Wu culture.
