Harbin Electric Corporation (HE) announced on Nov 4 that four sets of 12MW turbo-generator units designed and manufactured by the company were successfully connected to the power grid of Mongolia, laying a solid foundation for further China-Mongolia cooperation.

As part of the third largest power plant project in Mongolia, the China-made turbo-generator units are installed in a power plant in Erdenet, a city in north Mongolia.

All the construction work, installation and system debugging was completed by HE in advance.

The four sets of turbo-generator units were divided into two batches to conduct trial operations over a 72-hour period starting on Oct 30 and Oct 31 respectively –– with both receiving permission to become part of Mongolia’s power grid.

The successful operation of the turbo-generators will play an important role in strengthening cooperation between China and Mongolia in the development of power infrastructure, and further boost economic and trade cooperation.
