世界一流军队 (shìjiè yīliú jūnduì): World-class forces

In the report he delivered to the opening session of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping made clear that China is endeavoring to develop a world-class military that is able to fight and win.

By the year 2020, mechanization will be basically achieved, with the application of IT and strategic capabilities seeing a big improvement. The modernization of the national defense and armed forces should be basically completed by 2035, Xi said.

Confronted with profound changes in its national security environment, a strong army, navy, air force and rocket force able to conduct efficient joint operations are needed to create a modern combat force that is able to shoulder its mission of defending the nation. A world-class armed force is necessary to provide strong strategic support for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation

The 19th CPC National Congress paid great attention on the strategic layout of national security, and provided an action plan for the development of the country's armed force in the new era.
