Soccer teams to battle it out for Governor's Cup

The Guangdong provincial Governor's Cup youth soccer league is set to get underway this year on Nov 6.

At total of 98 teams from 79 universities across the province will be competing for the coveted trophy in the games organized by the provincial education department and sports administration.

The games will kick off at six universities over 20 days, including South China Normal University, South China University of Technology and South China Agricultural University.

Held annually since 2014, the Guangdong Governor's Cup youth soccer league is aimed at promoting soccer and developing talent in universities across the province.

The opening ceremony of the games this year will be held at South China Normal University.
