Three new JILIN-1 Agile video satellites completed recently by Chang Guang Satellite Technology left the factory in Jilin province on Oct 27.
The new satellites have higher performances in terms of areas monitored with lower costs and shorter production periods.
Jia Hongguang, vice-general manager of the company, said "Compared to the previous satellites, the new ones can cover larger areas and have stronger scanning ability. In addition, we can obtain dynamic images."
"Our company aims to complete 60 satellites by the end of 2020," added Jia.
According to the company, there are five JILIN-1 satellites in operation that have conducted more than 7,700 scanning missions offering great amounts of data to troops, governments and the general public.
The new satellites are scheduled to be launched in November from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, Shanxi province.
The success of the new satellites represents a breakthrough in mass satellite production with low costs and short production periods, and promotes the transformation and upgrading of the industrial structure in Changchun and the development of strategic emerging industries.
