Wuhan Union Hospital West Campus
Wuhan Union Hospital West Campus (WUHWC), in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (Hannan), is an important part of Peking Union Medical College Hospital.
WUHWC offers 1200 beds and has more than 800 employees, including 112 associate chief physicians and chief physicians, and 23 master and doctorate supervisors.
In terms of its practices, it has 31 National Key Clinical Specialties and an International Outpatient Clinic to serve foreigners.
WUHWC has allocated land of 80 mu (53,333 square meters) and covers an area of 180,000 square meters.
In 2015, a new 19-floor surgical building became operational. The 80,000 square-meter building has 1200 beds and 22 operating rooms. Internationally advanced medical equipment, including a multi-detector spiral CT and NMR equipment makes it one of the most modern medical clinics in China.
All diagnoses and inspection results are connected with Beijing, which gives the two campuses uniform diagnostic criteria.
WUHWC has shown synchronous development in diagnosis, teaching and research. In the last three years, it has had 13 projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, three of which gained national invention patent licenses. More than 100 papers have been published in national core journals, 44 on the SCI and six in the journal of pragmatics. It also has a sub-project of a national key research and development project with funding of 12.50 million yuan ($1.88 million).
WUHWC is a practice base for many colleges and universities, including Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University and Hubei University of Chinese Medicine. It receives over 300 interns annually.
Relying on the resource superiority of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, WUHWC has developed rapidly and has become the leading medical centre of the southwest part of Wuhan and one of the city's top 10 local hospitals.
