"Two-center three-level" passenger and cargo transport hub systems connecting three logistics parks and eight logistics centers are to form a crisscross network that reinforces Zhuhai as a hub city on the west bank of the Pearl River Delta.
A public notice has just announced the pending Integrated Transportation Hubs Layout Plan & Detailed Plan for Major Transportation Hubs of Zhuhai City. The Housing & Urban-Rural Planning & Construction Bureau is seeking public input on the plan, which covers 1,723 km throughout the city.
Proposed is a Zhuhai North Railway Station to link the city with Shenzhen, Zhongshan, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong. The station would serve as a northward gateway and catalyst for economic integration of the city into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Looking southward, the plan calls for a Hengqin transportation hub that would adopt a spatial structure with "one belt-three strips" through multiple areas before terminating. Focusing on Shizimen Central Business District and Hengqin Port, it would enhance mutual interaction between Zhuhai and Macao, while giving access to resources of Hong Kong.

In the West Wing, the large-scale passenger transportation Jinwan and Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport hubs would support local urban development and further facilitate westward expansion. A multi-dimensional international arterial line airport and an international air cargo hub on the west bank of the Pearl River is also called for as part of the national high-speed rail network.
Meanwhile, construction on the two engineered island hubs of the cross-delta bridge would be speeded up to connect Zhuhai with Hong Kong and Macao, and contribute to the formation of a comprehensive transportation hub in Gongbei Bay.
As planned, the passenger transportation hub system would have seven first-level, 12 second-level, and 29 third-level hubs. The first-level include Hezhou, which is to be reserved for the long term, as well as Zhuhai North Railway Station, Jiuzhou Port, the new islands, Gongbei Port, Hengqin Port, and Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport hubs that are to serve both domestic and international markets and Pearl River Delta regions. The second-level would service downtown Zhuhai, while the third-level would form transport cluster hubs in the city.
Layout for the cargo transportation hubs calls for three logistics parks and eight logistics centers. The former include Zhuhai-Hong Kong-Macao, Airport, and Gaolan Port international logistics parks. The later refer to Jinding, Doumen, Fushan, and Guishan port logistics centers as well as Shangchong, Nanping, Jinwan, and Lianzhou agricultural product trade-and-distribution centers.
Moreover, Zhuhai will take part in planning and constructing the Zhuhai-Shenzhen, Doumen-Xiangzhou, extension line of Guangzhou-Zhuhai, and Guangzhou-Zhongshan-Macao Intercity MRTs.
