Jiaokou township of Sanmenxia is brimming with happiness as the villagers embraced another harvest season of apples in the poverty-stricken village according to a report on Sanmenxia Daily on Oct 22.
Merchants from Shaanxi and Jiangsu province flocked to the town to join in the picking and loading work.
An 8-kilometer-long road has been upgraded so that people can drive their trucks all the way to the plantations for an instant delivery.
"We need to serve both the farmers and merchants, easing their worries and burdens", said Zhang Anqiao, director of the Baimayu Village committee.
Impressed by the producers' integrity and kindness, a buyer surnamed Yuan from Jiangxi has purchased 25 tons of apples in a mere four days.
The village has benefited from the apple plantations in recent years, which has increased their income and helped reduce poverty.
The government has been supporting apple growing by sending experts to give guidance on the introduction of new techniques, variety improvement and quality upgrading.
Apple growers started selling their products on the Internet as business heated up in the village.
Consignment demands are particularly high recently, a maximum of 800 boxes are dispatched daily, mostly to Beijing, Shanghai and Jiangsu province, according to Ge Xiaojuan, a worker at the service station who was busy filling in piles of delivery forms.
"My son who works in Shanghai sends sales messages through Wechat and then I pack the apples and send them off", Ju Genshuan, a villager said with excitement, "Our lives are getting much better thanks to the preferential policies".
