The first fleet of 10 pure electric buses produced by Zhuhai Yinlong New Energy went into operation along Beijing's #1 Chang'an Avenue bus route on Oct 22. Another 80 of the Chinese Red buses are to be provided for the route in the near future.

The transit line runs between Laoshan Bus Station in the west and Sihui Interchange Station in the east with Tian'anmen Square, traffic and public transportation hub Gongzhufen, and traditional commercial area Xidan along the route. Each bus meets demanding requirements in size and capacity for both commuters and sightseers.

The first batch of low-floor buses are 18 m long -- 1.5 times that of standard buses. They have customized front- and back-bridge shockproof suspension systems and wider passages to benefit senior citizens and children when they get on and off.

Inside each bus there is a special area with a barrier-free footboard for those with disabilities.

Used are highly secure and stable lithium-titanate battery packs. A bus can be fully charged within 15 minutes, a short break for bus drivers to take a rest at bus terminal, with maximum endurance of 130 km.

The new bus is safer, more environmental-friendly and human-centered and is ready to integrate with the city, said a designer.

Yinlong New Energy was established in 2008 and headquartered in Sanzao Town of Jinwan District, Zhuhai. It is committed to researching, developing, producing, and selling lithium batteries and related equipment. The company also had its specially designed Vintage Dangdang Bus appeared at Tian’anmen Square and Qianmen area in 2014.
