Highly anticipated during the National Sailing Championships will be heated battles at five Olympic levels. These include the Men's and Women's 470 (double-handed monohull planing dinghy with a centerboard, Bermuda rig, and center sheeting) classes, Men's Laser, Women's Laser Radial (one-person dinghy), and Men's Finn (one-person heavyweight dinghy).

Hosting China's largest and highest-level sailing competition significantly promotes Zhuhai's leisure tourism and ocean economy, said a government official. Last year, location and winds helped give Zhuhai considerable experience as a sea sports host.

Therefore, the city is confident in operating the National Windsurfing Championships 2017 for the first time. Running concurrent with the sailing events are the Men's and Women's RS:X, and Men's and Women's T293.

Meanwhile, an exhibition hall will promote maritime leisure sports and the sailing culture. There will be static showcases and dynamic interaction at the International Maritime Cultural Center & Regatta Service Center at the southern wharf of Jiuzhou Port. The exhibition also will deliver knowledge about the ocean, sailboats, sailboarding, and navigation.
