社会主义现代化强国 (shèhuìzhǔyì xiàndàihuà qiángguó): Great modern socialist country

The report General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered to the opening of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China on Wednesday in Beijing not only depicted a blueprint but also practical strategic arrangements for China's socialist modernization in the future.

According to the report, the CPC has drawn up a two-stage development plan for the period from 2020 to the middle of the 21st century to transform China into a great, modern socialist country.

In the first stage from 2020 to 2035, the CPC will build on the foundation created by the establishment of a moderately prosperous society to basically realize socialist modernization.

In the second stage from 2035 to the middle of the 21st century, the CPC will, having basically achieved modernization, develop China into a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious and beautiful.

The change of expression from modern socialist country to great modern socialist country reflects the Party and all the Chinese people's confidence and determination to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
