Sanmenxia's apples are ready to make a foray into Peru as the General Administration of Quality Supervision received an approval from Peruvian authority recently, according to a report on smxdaily.com.cn on Oct 19.
Supported by the municipal government, the Sanmenxia Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau welcomed the assessment from Peruvian experts.
The quality watchdog in Sanmenxia has been working to facilitate the apple export registration, take charge of quality control and promote the Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) certification.
With centuries of experience in apple cultivation, Sanmenxia exported 151,000 tonnes of the fruit, valued at 138 million yuan ($20.9 million) last year.
The city had already opened up international markets by gaining endorsement to export apples Canada, the United States and Chile.
