Smart robots board Guangzhou buses

Guangzhou's double-decker sightseeing buses recently installed robots to assist passengers, according to news.ycwb.com on Oct 18.

The robot, with a 12-inch touch screen on its chest, is able to analyze human speech and communicate with passengers. It is also able to answer questions on bus transfers and tourist information. Wifi services are also provided via the smart robot which can function as bus announcement broadcaster when the double-deckers are packed with passengers.

According to bus drivers, the robot is of great help when it comes to security check as there is not enough space for security check equipment on the double-deckers. The infrared alarm, flame-sensor and smell-sensor integrated in the robot make it a great device to monitor the interior of the bus and ensure travel safety.
