Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Hohhot has paid particular attention to ensuring and improving living standards, helping the local people gain a stronger sense of benefit.
First, Hohhot has solved prominent problems of public concern. It has continued to renovate public restrooms and improve traffic conditions, wining warm praise from the public.

Second, Hohhot has striven to boost employment and business startups. Since 2014, a total of 200,100 new urban jobs have been added. The registered urban unemployment rate has stood at 3.8 percent in each of the past three years. And the transferred rural labor force has risen to 226,100.

Third, Hohhot has ensured basic living needs in education, healthcare and social security. Pushing ahead with all-around efforts to strengthen weak areas like educational resources and facilities, the city has given local people access to equitable and quality education.
Continual progress has been made in building a Healthy Hohhot. Advances in a hierarchical medical system and modern hospital management system have occurred.
More funding was provided for basic social security. Government subsidies for basic health insurance for rural and nonworking urban residents were increased from 280 to 450 yuan per person per annum. And full coverage under the serious disease insurance scheme was achieved.
Fourth, Hohhot took comprehensive measures to crack down on drugs, gambling and other violations, effectively safeguarding public security.
