Aspiring to boost its local scientific research capacity, Heilongjiang province in Northeast China established an overseas talent workstation affiliated to Heilongjiang Academy of Science on Oct 16, to attract global top talents.
The establishment of the workstation is in line with Heilongjiang’s layout to take advantage of the science and technology recourse in the province to expand international cooperation; and introduce overseas talents to serve Heilongjiang’s scientific research institutes and universities.
Currently, 31 overseas scholars and experts from 17 countries have settled in the new workstation, involving research fields such as China hemp, graphite, 3D printing materials and environmental protection.
Heilongjiang province attaches great importance to boost scientific research and development. As of 2017, Heilongjiang has established a total of 19 international science and technology communication and cooperation platforms under the auspices of Heilongjiang Academy of Science, including the Chemical New Materials International Joint Research Center and a technology transfer center in cooperation with Russia.
Statistics from Heilongjiang Intellectual Property Office reveals that the average annual patent application quantity of Heilongjiang province increased 27.5 percent over the 12th Five-Year Plan Period (2011-2015), Of which, the patent for innovation increased 29.2 percent, and the enterprise patent application increased 36.4 percent.
