China's oldest, largest, and most important international trade event has 577 booths promoting 182 Zhuhai enterprises. The 122nd China Import & Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, opened in Guangzhou on Oct 15.
Among the Zhuhai standouts are well-known companies Gree Electric Appliances, Elec-Tech International Co Ltd, Print-Rite Unicorn Image Products Co Ltd, Eastcompeace Technology Co Ltd, and eight emerging newcomers such as Sheng Xi Yuan Mechanical Electric Equipment Co Ltd, Zhuhai Aicon Image Co Ltd, and Zhuhai Hongmao Glass Co Ltd.
As more support is being given to mechanical and electrical products this year, 113 local enterprises in those fields were encouraged to attend and now constitute 62 percent of the Zhuhai delegation. Thirty-two enterprises manufacturing and selling high-tech products account for 17.5 percent, while those engaged in consumer electronics, household appliances, computers, and telecommunication products take up 28 percent of the booths assigned to Zhuhai.
Most of the exhibits are household appliances and consumer electronics. Energy-efficient "smart" household appliances, security and surveillance systems, environmentally friendly print consumables, and medicine and health-care products show strong competitiveness.
This year, the delegation will continue to help private enterprises expand in the international market and build overseas sales channels. There are 136 private enterprises at the fair, which account for 75 percent of the attending Zhuhai enterprises. More than 400 booths were allocated to them, a 72 percent share of the total available.
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC and the People's Government of Guangdong Province, the fair is held every spring and autumn in the China Import & Export Fair Pazhou Complex in Guangzhou. Founded in 1957, it has grown into a comprehensive international trading event with the longest history, largest size, most extensive exhibit variety, largest buyer attendance, and greatest business turnover in China.
With few changes from last year's session, the fair is being conducted over three phases. Setting up more than 60,000 booths, it has attracted 25,000 domestic enterprises that have put 160,000 commodities on display.
The latest products from leading enterprises with independent intellectual property rights, self-owned brands, and core technologies are on show, and together indicate that intellectualization, branding, high-end customization, and green and low-carbon products are trending. The Import Pavilion is hosting 620 enterprises from 33 countries and regions, of which about 60 percent are along the Belt & Road.
