Hechi holds emergency drill for environmental accidents

Hechi in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region recently held an emergency drill involving a simulated sudden environmental accident in Du'an Yao autonomous county.

The exercise involved a simulation of a tanker truck carrying 20 tonnes of sulfuric acid being rear-ended by a jubilee truck, causing substantial leakage of the highly corrosive acid in front of a park.

On receiving the accident alarm, the county government activated its contingency plan and commissioned seven emergency teams from the departments of environmental protection, public security, traffic police, firefighting and health.

The drill was designed to test the effectiveness and feasibility of the contingency plan. Working personnel from all county-level environmental protection bureaus in Hechi observed the walkthrough.
