After the General Administration of Customs issued new policies on Sept 21, the efficiency of customs clearance has greatly improved, benifiting import-export companies in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province.

The new policy allows commodities to be released before the tax bills are printed and import-export companies to pay bills online.

Unlike traditional inspection before paying tax, commodities will undergo selective inspections during the clearance process, saving a great deal of time.

"Now the average time for customs clearance is 4.5 hours, a saving of 1.27 hours," said a staff member of Guiyang customs.

The department also introduced reforms to the collection and management of taxes. Companies in Guizhou can now apply to pay online to enjoy more convenience.

"We don't need to travel to the customs department and banks every day any more. We can pay all the bills at one time," said a manager at Guizhou Fuguikang Co Ltd after his company applied for aggregate tax collection.
