Jiuyuan district of Baotou witnessed steady development in its tourism industry during the national holiday period, with the total tourism revenue reaching 62.72 million yuan ($9.52 million), reports Baotou Daily.
The figure represented a year-on-year growth of 40.85 percent.
The district, home to numerous historical sites including the Great Walls constructed during the Warring States period (475-221BC), the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC) and the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24), and partly-surviving ancient villages of the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), received 89,602 tourists in total, with a year-on-year growth of 37 percent.
