A ceremony celebrating the issuance of a set of stamps under the theme of Cantonese Opera was held in southern Chinese city of Guangzhou on Oct 15. The ceremony was attended by a group of famous Cantonese Opera artists including Li Junsheng, winner of China's highest opera prize Plum Performance Award.
The event was organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee and China Post Group Guangdong Provincial Branch and was held in Cantonese Opera Art Museum.

The stamp set consists of a total of three stamps; all designed by Zhang Wang, a renowned stamp designer whose works include the widely acclaimed Zhuge Liang and Huangmei Opera. The three stamps are based on traditional Cantonese Operas.
At the ceremony, famous Cantonese Opera artists dressed in costumes and showed up on stage as the figures in the stamps.
To provide people with a better platform to understand Cantonese Opera, a special cultural week featuring Cantonese Opera arts and stamps collection got underway in Cantonese Opera Art Museum during Oct 15 to 18. Moreover, Cantonese Opera performances will also be staged at the museum from Oct 16 to 18.
